Common questions.
What counts as a message?
One back-and-forth with your assistant: a question and the answer it gives. A typical conversation uses about five. It makes no difference which channel it came in on: web chat, WhatsApp, email, SMS and social messages are all counted the same way. Voice calls use messages too, at roughly two to four a minute.
What happens if I go over my monthly messages?
Your assistant keeps working. Extra messages are billed at your plan's per-message rate rather than the service cutting off, and the rate gets cheaper the higher your plan. You can set an alert to warn you before you reach your limit. If you would rather cap your spend outright, you can tell your assistant to stop replying at the limit and take a message instead, which is emailed to you.
Can I change plans at any time?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing period, so you keep what you have paid for.
Do I have to pay to try it?
No. The Free plan gives you 150 messages and a working assistant on your own web page, with no card required. It is not a timed trial. The messages are yours to use whenever you like.
Do I need the voice add-on to get started?
No. Voice is priced separately because a spoken minute costs us more than a typed message, and most operators start with web chat, WhatsApp and email. Add Phone Minutes whenever you want people to be able to call.
Will it work with the systems we already use?
Very likely. Octo already connects to booking systems such as Res:Harmonics and Elina, CRMs such as HubSpot, and everyday tools such as Outlook, Slack, Google Sheets and WhatsApp. It can connect to most other systems through their APIs, and if we don't connect to yours yet, we build it in days, not months. Is our data secure?
Yes. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we do not use your data to train AI models. Access inside your team is role-based, so people see only what they should.
