What is an AI teammate? (And why it isn't a chatbot)

Most operators have tried a chatbot. An AI teammate is a different idea: it finishes the job, follows your rules and shows its work.

Most hotels and serviced apartment operators have tried a chatbot. A box in the corner of the website that answers "What time is check-in?" and sends everything else to an inbox nobody opens until morning.

An AI teammate is a different idea. It doesn't just answer questions. It does the work, inside rules you set, where you can see it.

A chatbot answers. A teammate finishes the job.

Ask a chatbot whether you have a one-bed free in November and it will point the guest to your booking page. Ask a teammate and it checks live availability in your PMS, quotes the stay, answers the follow-up questions, takes the booking and sends the payment link.

That is the real test: does the conversation end with an answer, or with the job done?

It works across the business, not just the chat window

Once Octo knows your properties, your guests and your systems, that knowledge is useful everywhere. The same teammate that answers a midnight enquiry can:

  • chase an overdue invoice the day it's due
  • send a repeat-stay offer to a guest who went quiet
  • walk a new starter through a group amendment
  • run first-round interviews when you're hiring housekeeping staff

It follows your rules

A good teammate knows the house rules. Octo never quotes below your rate card, never confirms a stay under your minimum and never approves a refund. Complaints and judgement calls go straight to your team, with the whole conversation attached.

It remembers

A returning guest isn't a stranger. Octo remembers that they asked for a high floor last time, that they always need parking, and which company pays the invoice.

You can see everything it does

Every conversation and task is in a live log. Step in whenever you like, or read the summary in the morning.

Three questions to ask before you choose one

  • Can it finish the job, or only answer questions?
  • Does it work inside rules I set, and hand over when it should?
  • Can I see everything it does, as it happens?

If the answer to all three is yes, you're looking at a teammate. Your team stays where it counts. Octo takes everything else.

Put Octo on shift in minutes.
